PAST EVENTS
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
On Saturday, December 7 at 4:00 pm, the Hillsdale First United Methodist Church presented its 2024 Community Christmas Concert.
This Musical Celebration of Christmas featured the choral cantata “By Heaven’s Light” written by Tom Long and composer Allen Pote. The Hillsdale First UMC Chancel Choir, with guest vocalists and instrumentalists, performed under the direction of Calista Brunett, Director of Music. Musical pieces were accompanied by dramatic narrations that retold the story of Christ’s birth.
The concert was part of our 2024 Community Concert Series Sharing the Gift of Music in the Name of Christ.
ORGAN RECITAL
Our Director of Music, Calista Brunett, presented an Organ Recital on October 27 with a varied repertoire including pieces by Mendelssohn, Bach, and others. She was joined by Nicholas Nestorak, tenor, who returned to Hillsdale after a successful performance schedule that included his Metropolitan Opera debut earlier this year.
The recital was part of our 2024 Community Concert Series Sharing the Gift of Music in the Name of Christ.
LENTEN STUDY SERIES
During Lent we are sharing a Lenten Supper and Study with our neighbors at First Presbyterian Church. We will host three of the suppers and studies (on March 1, 15, 29 at 6:00 pm) and the Presbyterian Church will host two (on March 8 and March 22 at 6:00 pm).
There will be a light meal at 6:00 pm followed by a video study and discussion of the Life and Ministry of the Messiah, featuring Bible historian and teacher, Ray Vander Laan.
All are welcome to attend in person or by ZOOM. Contact the office for the ZOOM link. Study guides are also available by contacting the church office.
